Vehicle Safety Standards

Annual DOT Inspections

Every coach in our fleet undergoes mandatory annual Department of Transportation inspections. Vehicles that don’t pass are taken out of service immediately.

Pre-Trip Inspections

Before every single departure, our drivers perform a full DOT-compliant pre-trip inspection covering brakes, tires, lights, mirrors, emergency exits and all safety equipment.

Scheduled Preventive Maintenance

All coaches follow a strict mileage-based maintenance schedule — oil changes, brake service, tire rotation, and full system checks performed at our on-site facility in Houston.

3-Point Seat Belts on Every Seat

Unlike many charter operators, every seat on every Continental coach is equipped with a 3-point lap and shoulder belt — the same standard used in passenger vehicles.

ADA Accessible Fleet

ADA-compliant coaches available with kneeling capability and space for 2 wheelchairs. Accessible travel is not an afterthought — it’s built into our fleet.

Sanitation Protocol

Our fleet undergoes daily disinfection using EPA-approved, CDC-recommended products — including all high-touch surfaces: handrails, seats, belts, armrests, door handles, and the restroom.

Driver Qualification Standards

Every Continental Bus Lines driver must meet or exceed the following requirements before operating any vehicle in our fleet. These are not suggestions — they are non-negotiable standards enforced by federal law and our own internal protocols.

Requirement Standard Status
CDL License Class B or higher with Passenger (P) endorsement — required by federal law for all passenger-carrying commercial vehicles over 16 seats Required
DOT Physical Full Department of Transportation physical examination — renewed every 24 months, or annually for certain health conditions Required
